Ryuji Osawa, PhD – CEO
Ryuji Osawa is CEO of CLOVERNA. He joins us with 20 years of experience in Drug Discovery, Technology Development, and Business Development in several biotech companies.
Most recently, he served as head of business development of Alchemedicine, drug discovery biotech spin-out from Eisai and contributed licensing of drug candidates at pre-clinical stage to pharmaceutical companies. His scientific background is molecular biology and cancer immunology.
Tatsuo Ito, MD, PhD – Founder CSO
Tatsuo Ito founded CLOVERNA (formerly called POiRT Systems) with co-inventor Yurika Shimizu in May 2019 after they won the grand prize for their technology at the 2nd Okayama Tech Plan Grand Prix.
Dr. Ito is a molecular biologist with US citizenship who has held positions at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York and the SCRIPPS Institute in San Diego.
He earned his MD from Tsukuba University and his PhD from Okayama University.

Yurika Shimizu, PhD – Co-founder
Yurika Shimizu is one of the founding members who helped launch CLOVERNA in May 2019.
In her roles as co-founder and researcher, she oversees all of CLOVERNA’s research projects and observes the administrative functions of the company.
She is a co-inventor of CLOVERNA’s novel RNA-targeted drug discovery technologies, DIRAC and TRIP.
She earned her PhD from Okayama University.
